Lahore, Pakistan
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) is Pakistan’s first federally chartered American-style university, established to deliver globally aligned, innovation-driven education.
Founded by two young entrepreneurs — Shahzeb Awan, a University of London–trained lawyer, and Jahanzeb Burana, a Harvard MBA with a decade of experience in education and finance — NIT was awarded its Federal Charter on January 25, 2025, granting full academic and administrative autonomy.
Located in Lahore, NIT will welcome its first cohort in October 2025 with two founding faculties: the School of Management Sciences and the School of Data Sciences and Information Technology. In partnership with Arizona State University (ASU)—ranked #1 in the U.S. for innovation by U.S. News & World Report for 10 consecutive years—NIT provides students access to dual degree opportunities, an American-modeled curriculum, and membership in the global ASU–Cintana Alliance.
NIT is committed to developing future-ready graduates who are critical thinkers, self-starters, and equipped to lead in a fast-changing global landscape.
"We want to make world-class, quality education accessible to as diverse a set of Pakistani students as possible. An education that provides a solid foundation in basic disciplines, sets high ethical and citizenship standards, turns students into independent learners, equips them with all the necessary skills, and provides them with the tools and values needed to be thinkers and doers of tomorrow."

Dr. Faisal Bari
