Dr. Águeda Benito most recently was the Chief Academic Officer for Laureate Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa. In her role, she provided guidance and support to the academic leaders of the regional institutions, located in six countries, focusing on the quality of the students´ learning experience and their employability, as well as faculty development, innovation, accreditation and the enhancement of the institutional reputation.
She comes originally from Spain, where she started working as a professor for Universidad Europa de Madrid, one of Laureate’s leading universities. She spent 17 years at UEM, serving as Rector and chairing the Laureate European Academic Committee before moving to Chicago and serving as Provost of Kendall College, another Laureate institution.
Águeda has been a member of the boards of European University of Cyprus, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (Peru) and Stamford International University (Thailand). Her academic merits are extensive and include numerous publications, research projects, direction of PhD theses and evaluation of institutions and programs.
