Two of Mapúa University’s program offerings under the Cintana Alliance reached another milestone as they received the nod of assessors from the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), which conducts quality assessments for member higher education institutions. These assessments include the AUN-QA Programme Assessment and the AUN-QA Institutional Assessment.
During the 310th AUN-QA Programme Assessment held online from December 12 to 16, 2022, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology were visited remotely by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anan Mungwattana, Kasetsart University, Thailand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet, University of Danang, Vietnam, Dr. Yu Un Oppusunggu, Universitas Indonesia, Indonesia, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Warin Krityakiarana, Mahidol University, Thailand. The assessment results showed that both programs fulfill the AUN-QA requirements and thus were awarded the AUN-QA certificate. The assessors unanimously reported that the two programs implemented overall quality assurance that was ‘adequate as expected.’
Established in 1998, the AUN-QA aims to harmonize educational standards and seeks to engender continuous quality improvement among universities in the region. In their website, AUN-QA state that the activities are based on the Bangkok Accord of 2000, which enumerates guidelines for promoting the development of a quality assurance system as instruments to maintain, improve, and enhance teaching, research, and overall academic standards among AUN member universities. Mapúa University is a member university of the AUN-QA.
In 2022, Mapúa University formally joined the Cintana Alliance, a global network of schools that have forged partnership with the Arizona State University (ASU) to achieve the ambitious goal of connecting them to transformational resources and partners towards educational success. In August of the same year, Mapúa’s E.T. Yuchengco School of Business (ETYSB) started offering ASU-enhanced courses, while the School of Health Sciences (SoHS) enriched the content and curricula of AB and BS Psychology programs using worldwide quality benchmarks of ASU.
Assessed along eight criteria, namely Expected Learning Outcomes, Programme Structure and Content, Teaching and Learning Approach, Student Assessment, Academic Staff, Student Support Services, Facilities and Infrastructure, and Output and Outcomes, the rhe recent feat of the two programs at the 310th AUN-QA Programme Assessment is a testament of the immense improvements of Mapúa programs through its global partnerships.
