Powered by Arizona State University, CEIPA’s new programming will establish a unique educational model in Colombia that provides students with a wide range of new academic opportunities.
Sabaneta – August 18, 2022 – CEIPA announced a new initiative designed to prepare students for in-demand jobs in a rapidly changing and challenging world, and thus meet the growing need for high-quality education in Colombia. Building on CEIPA’s longstanding commitment to deliver high-quality education to students, the institution has joined the ASU-Cintana Alliance as the only member currently from Colombia. This new partnership allows both undergraduate and graduate students to benefit from collaboration with some of the most innovative institutions in the world, including Arizona State University (ASU).
With a population of nearly 51 million — 25.9% of which are under 30 years of age — Colombia recognizes an urgent need to scale and expand access to higher education to stay globally competitive. As Colombia continues to develop and evolve, new initiatives such as CEIPA’s partnership with ASU and the Cintana Alliance, will help ensure students have the in-demand skills that will allow the population to be ambitious, close economic gaps, and continue championing the development and growth of the country.
“It is difficult to imagine a better way to celebrate these last 50 years of education. First, we obtained the High Quality Institutional Accreditation and today we can proudly announce the alliance with Arizona State University, the most innovative university in the United States, and Cintana Education,” said Diego Mauricio Mazo Cuervo, Rector of CEIPA. “This alliance, among other benefits, will strengthen our academic programs, research, internationalization and student services. We will see our postgraduate school strengthened by the collaboration with ASU, we will work to expand our differentiated and relevant educational offers for all of Colombia.”
ASU’s educational model is based on the philosophy of inclusion, expanding university access to all students who are eligible and from diverse social groups around the globe. By joining the ASU-Cintana Alliance, the curriculum offerings and student learning experiences of CEIPA will become more global, giving students a broader and more well-rounded set of skills and perspectives, which will ultimately increase their competitiveness in their future careers.
ASU has been ranked the #1 university in innovation in the U.S. for the past seven consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report. Home to world-renowned faculty, including five Nobel Laureates and 11 Pulitzer Prize awardees, ASU is one of the most prestigious universities in the world according to Times Higher Education.
“A high quality and personally meaningful education is one of the greatest tools for social mobility, yet it remains a scarce resource in many regions of the world,” said Nancy Gonzales, executive vice president and university provost at ASU. “It is our university’s charter mission to make a world-class degree accessible to qualified learners, regardless of their background and geography. By joining the ASU-Cintana Alliance, CEIPA can draw on the expertise of ASU as well as other ASU-Cintana Alliance member institutions so that students in Colombia will be well prepared to contribute to the future of their country.”
The ASU-Cintana Alliance is a global network of innovative and ambitious universities from the U.S., Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, working together to build and scale high-quality academic programs that respond to their country’s economic and social needs. Alliance members benefit from access to ASU’s resources such as curricula, expertise in digital learning, and insights into how to build world-class research programs. The global network was established through a partnership between Cintana Education and Arizona State University.
“The High Quality Institutional Accreditation that CEIPA received is a recognition of all the work carried out by the community during these 50 years,” said Douglas Becker, chairman and founder of Cintana Education. “We warmly welcome CEIPA to the ASU-Cintana Alliance, and we look forward to supporting the institution’s transition to become one of the best universities in Colombia.”
